The USOPC has effectively barred transgender women from competing in women's sports, telling athletic federations they have an "obligation to comply" with an executive order previously issued by President Donald Trump.
That change came a day after Trump signed the executive order intended to ban transgender athletes from girls' and women's sports. Female eligibility is a key issue for the International Olympic Committee under its new president, Kirsty Coventry, who has signaled an effort to "protect the female category." The IOC has allowed individual sports federations to set their own rules at the Olympics, and some have already taken steps on the topic. Stricter rules on transgender athletes -- barring from women's events anyone who went through male puberty -- have been passed by swimming, cycling and track and field.1 to allow only "athletes who are of the female sex" in women's competition and opening men's events to "all athletes not eligible for the women's category, including transgender women, transgender men, non-binary and intersex athletes and cisgender male athletes."

A leader in the conservative party says a measure does not “single anyone out for their beliefs,” but a branch of the far-right Vox party praised it for “banning Islamic celebrations.”
The Spanish government on Thursday condemned a ban enacted by a city in southeastern Spain on religious celebrations from civic sports facilities, which critics have called an indirect effort to block Muslims from gathering there for religious holidays. The ban was codified as a local law on July 28 by conservative leaders in Jumilla, a city with about 27,000 residents. As it gained attention this week, it quickly became a national point of contention — touching on issues that have consumed countries around Europe, like immigration and nationalism.Members of the Popular Party, the conservative party that approved the ban, have rejected those accusations.Others said the ban was a painful reminder of anti-Muslim rhetoric, especially on the far right, that has risen alongside anti-immigrant sentiment in Spain, where many migrants are from North Africa.
Home / Cricket / Asia Cup / News / Asia Cup fixture with Pak to go as scheduled, ban on bilateral events stays
According to the new guidelines, Indian teams will not participate in bilateral matches hosted in Pakistan, nor will Pakistani teams be allowed to tour India for similar contestsOfficials explained that India’s approach to sporting ties with Pakistan mirrors its broader diplomatic stance, emphasising that while the Olympic Charter requires participation in global and regional events, New Delhi will not host or travel to Pakistan for direct encounters. With the tournament drawing near, doubts persisted over whether India would permit its team to take the field against Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year. Sources in the ministry clarified that while bilateral matches remain suspended, multilateral tournaments such as the Asia Cup, the World Cup and ICC events fall under a different category and will not be disrupted. The notion against India playing Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025 was fanned further when the Indian team of former cricketers, playing in the World Championship of Legends event in England earlier, refused to play Pakistan—first in the league stages and then in the semifinal—resulting in their elimination.

With the results of the latest Spotlight Series arriving on the heels of several high-profile Standard events, the conversation around the cards ... Agatha's Soul Cauldron, and speculations on "emergency" bans in Standard, we thought now would be a good time to check in.
A surprise change to the format hurts them the most, and it undermines one of our clearly stated goals for these announcements: to provide players with the stability and knowledge to make deck choices for events. Just a few years ago, we tried to give ourselves the flexibility to ban cards whenever we wanted by removing predetermined ban dates, sometimes giving notice, sometimes not.So, our next banned and restricted announcement will be on November 10. We'll be watching closely to see how Standard develops, but we're prepared to take action given the current state of the format. Until then, we hope everyone battling in Standard RCQs, at local events, and on digital platforms enjoys their time gaming. The next banned and restricted announcement will be on November 10. Read on for more details on why we're making this change.First, we do think we got our banned and restricted announcement timing windows wrong during this part of the year. This is the first year we've tied these announcements to play seasons, and we don't think we gave ourselves quite the right windows.

En Español abajo Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Must Demonstrate a Commitment to Universal Human Rights by Banning the United States and Israel from Hosting or Participating in International Sporting Events The United States has become dangerous for members of the global community, and specifically for non-white/non-European people. This raises the question as to why FIFA and IOC are affording the United States and then State of Israel with preferential treatment over other nations who have been and are currently sanctioned and banned from competition and the hosting of international sporting events for violations of the core values of both bodies. Both FIFA and the IOC have previously denied the hosting of, and participation in international events for nations and governments who have acted in ways they deem antithetical to their stated core values of human rights, anti-discrimination and global sustainability. For instance, both IOC and FIFA banned Germany and Japan from international competition following the second world war. This raises the question as to why FIFA and IOC are affording the United States and the State of Israel with preferential treatment over other nations who have been and are currently sanctioned and banned from competition and the hosting of international sporting events for violations of the core values of both bodies.

Over 1500 people so far have been arrested at Lift The Ban events for holding signs which read “I oppose genocide – I support Palestine Action”. 29 people were arrested at Parliament Square in London on July 5th, the day the ban came into effect.
On August 9th, over 500 arrests took place in London’s Parliament Square for peacefully holding signs with the same words on them. This is reportedly the largest number of arrests by the Met Police at a single event in living memory, massively surpassing the number of arrests at the 1990 Poll Tax riots. ... 1 – Lift the Ban on Palestine Action.Following intensive lobbying by representatives of the Israeli government and the arms industry such as Lord Walney, dishonestly presented to the public as ‘independent advisers’, Palestine Action have been branded as a ‘terrorist organisation’, for trying to stop crimes against humanity and for exposing the British government’s complicity in genocide.Yvette Cooper, the Home Secretary, introduced the ban after Palestine Action entered the RAF base at Brize Norton and spray painted two military planes red, shining a spotlight on the role of the British military in partnering Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people. The objective of this campaign is to Lift the Ban on Palestine Action, i.e.

A Stormont department will pull funding from future Derry City and Strabane Council events unless a block on the army appearing at a jobs fair is lifted, DUP leader Gavin Robinson has said. Accusing Nationalist councillors in the area of acting out of prejudice and discriminatory attitudes in bringing in the ban, the East Belfast MP stated Communities Minister Gordon Lyons will refuse applications for money from the council in future.A political row exploded last week, with Sinn Fein and SDLP councillors lashing out at the idea of the army having a stall at the event. Yesterday the Ministry of Defence confirmed the military would not appear, stating officials are “disappointed that the British Army will not be allowed to join other organisations” at the jobs fair. Speaking on BBC Radio Ulster’s Stephen Nolan Show this morning, Mr Robinson said his party colleague Mr Lyons would not hand out any more funding to Derry City and Strabane Council while the army ban is in place.Money for today’s event won’t be affected, but Mr Robinson is adamant the council won’t get any from the DfC for future jobs fairs while the army ban is in place.

The Humane Society has reported numerous incidents where animals, particularly birds, were found suffocated or immobilized by balloon strings. To concretely address this issue, I propose a ban on the release of balloons during events such as funerals and weddings.Wildlife matters and so does livestock. As someone who deeply cares about the environment and the well-being of all creatures, witnessing the damage caused by balloon releases is heart-wrenching. These seemingly harmless acts during funerals, weddings, and other celebratory events pose a significant threat to wildlife and livestock. When balloons are released into the sky, they must land somewhere.Ban balloon releases at events to protect wildlifeOrganizations committed to protecting the environment often suggest using bubbles, planting a tree, or flying kites as symbolic actions that carry similar emotional weight without the ecological footprint. By supporting this petition, you help protect vulnerable wildlife and livestock from avoidable harm, and promote sustainable and compassionate practices. Urge lawmakers and event planners to join this effort for a safer, healthier planet.
At the LGS I visit frequently they run what is billed as a "Casual" tournament. It's a lot of fun and typically can bring out a pretty diverse group of playe...
Reporting this violation could result in the tournament becoming unsanctioned (and a lot of players would lose interest and probably not play in it) or worse, the shop losing rights to run ANY events, shutting down the only place a lot of players come to play. My question is this: What would you do? Is there a way they can run these custom ban lists in a way that doesn't have to snowball into a new banning every week...?Tell him that if he wants to continue hosting events with his custom banlist, he's welcome to do so, but if he keeps reporting them as sanctioned events he can and will get in trouble and could lose his ability to sanction at all. If he doesn't care, or he keeps at it, this is the point where you need to report it.As long as the banning is done in a timely manner and you have enough time to prepare a new deck (or just have something you know wont get banned on standby) it seems like a really neat idea. Do you REALLY think the event would stop all together if it lost sanctioning?I think in reality what would happen if you reported it and pressed the issue if anything is he would just tell them sorry and stop reporting it as a sanctioned event and that would be that. ... I just wonder: How do you know what is banned or not from weekend to weekend ?
